Presiden John F Kennedy dan USAID



U.S. Ambassador to Indonesia Scot Marciel, Director of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Glenn Anders, and partners from government and private sectors of Indonesia, on Monday (03/10/2011) will celebrate anniversary 50 USAID in a reception at @ America, Jakarta.

According to the plan, Ambassador Marciel and a few figures will give a speech to commemorate this important day.

In October 1961, President John F. Kennedy passed the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 (1961 Foreign Assistance Act) which is the forerunner of USAID. A month later President Kennedy lifted the team's first Director of USAID.

 
U.S. Embassy on Wednesday (28/09/2011) states, fifty years later, USAID already has representatives in over 80 countries in four regions: Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and the Near East, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Europe and Eroasia.

Since the 1950s, USAID partnerships with governments and people of Indonesia. Framework of cooperation between the U.S. and Indonesia contained in the Comprehensive Partnership and the partnership covers areas such as improving education, trade and investment, human rights, energy and security cooperation, and tackle climate change.

Although the Comprehensive Partnership is a new thing, but not so with these areas of cooperation. Since its beginning in Indonesia, USAID has supported the economy, development, and humanitarian assistance throughout Indonesia.
